It gets a little frustrating when you put thought and time into a long winded posts only to get "server too busy" when you submit it. But, still glad to be here at the end of the day.

Last time that happened to me, I it took on the second or third try. Did you try again? I don't always if I'm reading, but if I'm posting I don't give up right away.

I am not of the mind to be thankful for the piss-poor way this board is administered.
If they need money to pay for some more server horsepower, then say so and let's have a fund raiser.
But to just allow the users to keep suffering while saying that "we're sorry, we're working on it" is not good, particularly when many of those members are contributors.
The admins here may be doing the work for free; many do. But even that is no excuse for not being transparent about the problem and asking for help to fix it.

Well this was Steven's post back on June 18th. If it was my decision to make ? Hostboard would have been in my rear view mirror a longtime ago ! This board has become just about useless.. It took me no less then 7 attempts to post this post due to the server too busy at 2:20am in the morning... And this is no where near peak times.Now let me try and get back to bed.

the biggest problem here is sharing a board server with porn freaks. just about any search you do here, gets 75% porn results. Todd i would have thought you would have moved this forum to another board long ago.

Are there other boards like this? I'm used to boards being the entire forum installation, not a single subforum. I think Todd was trying to stay away from having to run a server. I'm still a member on a few Yahoo boards, but I don't participate much. A lot of the traffic is guys complaining about the new setup Yahoo changed to....hard to do anything, I guess.

not only are we sharing a server but the majority of the active forums are PORN.

AB, you've been a real trooper trying to put a good face on this.
Right now, the huge value of this board is the data of all the posts that have been captured over the years. Much of that cannot be recreated.
If nothing else we need to get a backup of all the posts kept here and ensure that doesn't get lost. We can rehost it on another server farm; its not free, but not prohibitively expensive either. Let me know if I can lay my hands on a backup of this board's contents and I will do some investigation on re-hosting it to another provider.

Thanks Mike ! I try to help folks as fast as possible with registrations as well, but I am at the mercy of Steven as this has to be done on his end..
